COVID-19 has changed the approach VECAT is using for the 2021 credentialling season. Typically, in-person classes would begin in mid-January and conclude in late March or early April. However, with the restrictions on gatherings and community colleges’ closure until May/June 2021, VECAT classes will be entirely online. Some students will be re-certifying in areas for which they are proficient. But for others, this may be their first credential. Realizing the challenges for new students, VECAT will be hosting virtual office hours the last Tuesday of each month, January through April. Starting at 9:00 am, students can join a Zoom meeting to ask questions and clarify course materials by VAA experts. The tentative schedule for office hours is:
- 9:00 am – 10:30 am: Asphalt Field Level I and Level II
- 10:30 am – 12:00 pm: Slurry Surfacing and Surface Treatment
- 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Asphalt Plant Level I, Asphalt Plant Level II, and Asphalt Mix Design
- 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Cold Asphalt Recycling—Field, Cold Asphalt Recycling—Plant, and Full-Depth Reclamation
More details on the office hours will be provided when students register for a VECAT class.
