The summer meeting of the VDOT-VAA Traffic Engineering Cooperative Committee was held virtually on September 7 from 1:00 to 3:00 in the afternoon. Even though it remained virtual, the meeting was still very well attended with over 30 participants. The packed agenda included David Rush updating the group on 2021 work zone crash statistics, a review of the pavement marking shortage, Work Zone Safety concerns regarding crossover usage by contractors and PIMS installation issues. A new topic was the potential use of green markings for bike lanes, with a possible pilot project scheduled for 2022 in the Northern Virginia area. The next meeting of the committee is tentatively scheduled for December 9.
