In a “normal” year, VAA hosts 5 to 10 events ranging in size from 70 to over 600 people. These events start in the early part of the year with asphalt seminars, transition scholarship golf tournaments in the summer, and conclude with the Mid-Atlantic Asphalt Expo and Conference in December. Each event is very involved and takes months of planning and coordination by VAA staff, volunteer members, venue staff, and event planning consultants. Recognizing the importance of these events, VAA created a new staff position—Member Relations Specialist. This new position will be focused on continuing VAA’s tradition of well-executed events and work on other member-focused initiatives.
VAA’s first Member Relations Specialist will be Mrs. Tigre Hammond. Tigre comes to VAA from the Fredericksburg Expo and Convention Center where she has been employed since 2017 as an Events Manager. She graduated from George Mason University in August 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Events Management. Tigre’s first day at VAA will be April 15. Her email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Please take a minute and welcome Tigre to the VAA family.
