Pandemic modifies VECAT 2021 to virtual classroom

January starts the VECAT credentialing season. In the past, VECAT instructors and proctors would have hosted four or more in-person classes for over 300 students during the month. But like most of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed plans. All VECAT classes will be available virtually through late Spring. No in-person classes will be available due to restrictions on gatherings and the closure of community college campuses. To sign up for the online classes, visit the Germanna Community College website.

As outlined in the December edition of Asphalt News, VECAT subject matter experts will be hosting virtual office hours starting January 26 at 9:00 am. The office hours schedule has specific timeslots for each VECAT class.

  • 9:00 am to 10:30 am: Asphalt Field Level I and Level II
  • 10:30 am to 12:00 pm: Slurry Surfacing and Surface Treatment
  • 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm: Asphalt Plant Level I, Asphalt Plant Level II, and Asphalt Mix Design
  • 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm: Cold Asphalt Recycling – Field, Cold Asphalt Recycling – Plant, and Full-Depth Reclamation

Remember to enroll today and earn your credential before the 2021 paving and construction season. Feel free to contact Mike Dudley (mdudley@vaasphalt.com) or Judith Calvert (jcalvert@germanna.edu) with any questions.
