While the promotion of asphalt is the purpose of VAA, the association’s core is the people who make up its member companies. These individuals give their time and talents to lead the association through the VAA Board of Directors. This month VAA features two of the Board’s Directors, Tim Boone and Sheila Cramer. We hope you enjoy these brief exposés.
Tim Boone, Director
My name is Tim Boone. I am the chief operating officer at National Asphalt Manufacturing Corporation. National Asphalt has been in business since 1964 and is located in Fairfax, Virginia. In May of 1980, fresh out of high school, I started with Superior Paving Corp. as a laborer on the paving crew in what I thought was just a summer job. Four years later, I moved to National Asphalt as a dispatcher. Over the past 37 years, I have moved up the organizational ladder, working in almost every position to reach my current role. National Asphalt is one of the very few 100% FOB facilities located in Virginia.
This November, my wife Tracy and I will celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary. We have three grown children: Sidney (32), Gannon (29) and Macklin (28). We are also blessed with four grandchildren, with our fifth on the way. I was born in Fairfax and have spent my entire life living in the area. Spending time with family and friends is what I enjoy the most. Our home has always been the gathering place for our kids and their friends. I also enjoy the outdoors, whether it be hiking, bird hunting or golf.
Sheila Cramer, Director
My name is Sheila Cramer, and I am the CEO of B&S Contracting, Inc. in Staunton, VA. I am a second-generation owner and have been involved with the company for over 30 years. It is an honor to be on the VAA Board of Directors.
I was born, raised and still live in Augusta County. I earned a business administration degree from Bridgewater College. My husband, Alan, and I just celebrated 30 years of marriage. We have two beautiful daughters; Alison, who is in cultural resource work in Fredericksburg, and Catie, a junior biology major at Virginia Tech.
I enjoy traveling, cooking and scrapbooking. In my free time, you can find me in Emerald Isle, North Carolina or Pendleton County, West Virginia.
