Kickin’ it into producer gear: Kickin’ Asphalt Paving and Excavating opens new asphalt plant

VAA is pleased to welcome Kickin’ Asphalt Paving and Excavating to the Producer Member category. Kickin’ Asphalt has been an Associate Member of VAA for many years. Now, with the establishment of an asphalt plant at their Strasburg headquarters, they have moved up to VAA’s highest membership level. Producer members are granted voting rights per the association’s by-laws and are eligible for a seat on the board of directors.

Owned by Kenneth Radford and his family, Kickin’ Asphalt has been in business since 2005. Over the last 15 years, the company has grown from a small paving and construction company to a full-service operation. Before starting Kickin’ Asphalt, Kenneth was employed by APAC and other paving companies. While at APAC, his crews routinely won paving awards for smoothness and quality. Today, Radford plans on continuing that winning tradition with his Kickin’ Asphalt crews. “With this new plant, my hope is to produce and lay a high-quality asphalt mix. We have talented individuals starting with mix designs to plant operations and, finally, laydown crews. We are excited to serve the Shenandoah Valley and beyond from our Strasburg operations,” stated Radford.

When asked why he continued his membership with VAA as a new Producer Member, he replied, “(We) are members of VAA to advertise our services, develop relationships, support our industry, stay informed, and provide input on the latest VDOT requirements.” “With this new plant, my hope is to produce and lay a high-quality asphalt mix. We have talented individuals starting with mix designs to plant operations and, finally, laydown crews. We are excited to serve the Shenandoah Valley and beyond from our Strasburg operations.” stated Radford.
