The Women of Asphalt Virginia branch is thrilled to meet Thursday, April 20, in Lynchburg, Virginia, for the first in-person event of 2023. Stacie Witt of Boxley Materials and Karen Patterson of Randall Patterson Paving & Site Work LLC agreed to team up on the planning, and their companies offered to sponsor/co-host this regional reception. The venue of choice is The Aviary at Miller Park, a historic building in Lynchburg built in 1903 and formerly part of the Miller Park Zoo. It was home to exotic birds and animals and is now used as an event venue. Appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be available, but most importantly, there will be connection and conversation! These regional receptions are a great way to bring members and potential members together in a specific area without traveling so far from their district.
WofA VA plans to have an event or gathering in each district to cater to the members in those areas and help them connect. Our goal is to reach as many women around the state of VA as possible and get them plugged into Women of Asphalt by continuing to support the organization’s mission – to empower women in the asphalt industry. To RSVP for this event, contact Stacie Witt or Karen Patterson. Thank you to Boxley Materials Company and Randall Patterson Paving & Site Work LLC for hosting the Lynchburg district reception. If your company is interested in sponsoring and hosting a Women of Asphalt Virginia event in the coming months, please get in touch with Tigre Hammond. The event doesn’t have to be a reception; it can be anything! From a plant tour to a night at the bowling alley, the branch strives to connect members and foster a community of like-minded women in asphalt.
