Slurry Paver’s Phil Tarsovich

The transportation industry lost a champion and leader on June 11. Phil Tarsovich, President of Slurry Pavers headquartered in Richmond, passed away following a courageous battle with ALS. Phil was a strong supporter of the paving industry nationally and very involved locally with transportation issues. His funeral service was held in Richmond on June 18. VDOT’s William Hughes

On May 24, William Hughes passed away after a long battle with liver disease. Born in Massena, NY, William spent the last 22 years in Virginia as a VDOT engineer. He held several roles over that time including Pavement Engineer for the Materials Division and District Pavement Manager for the Richmond District. Most recently, he was a Traffic Device Specialist in the Fredericksburg District. William leaves behind a wife, Kristin, and three children. His obituary can be read here.
