After more than 30 years with VDOT and over 35 years in the transportation industry, VDOT’s NOVA District Engineer Helen Cuervo, P.E., announced her retirement. Helen held numerous roles in VDOT over her career, including permitting, land development, and District Construction Engineer. VAA would like to wish Helen a happy and healthy retirement.
With Helen’s retirement and Renee Hamilton’s departure in the summer of 2020 to lead the Dulles Greenway, VDOT’s NOVA District will have new leadership. In the interim, Culpeper District Engineer John Lynch, P.E. will serve as the NOVA District Engineer, and Fredericksburg Assistant District Engineer Michelle Shropshire, P.E., will serve as the Acting District Engineer for Culpeper.
