As has become all too common, COVID-19 outbreaks have forced the rescheduling of meetings and events. With the current spread of the Omicron variant of COVID, VAA and VDOT have pushed the Fredericksburg Asphalt Seminar from February 24 to March 24. This seminar will be an in-person event held at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center. Projections for the current outbreak to peak and begin to decline in late January or early February convinced us to reschedule. No changes are planned for the March 10 Asphalt Seminar in Roanoke at the Holiday Inn Valley View.
The seminar agenda has been set. Similar to years past, registration will begin at 8 AM, with the information sessions starting at 9 AM. Topics for the seminar are:
- Traffic Engineering Updates: Safety, Work zones and MUTCD Changes
- Materials and Construction Related Specification Changes
- Tacking and Longitudinal Joint Construction
- Ride Quality
- E-Construction: Headlight, E-Ticketing and other Initiatives
- Panel Discussion
Unlike previous asphalt seminars, the 2022 seminar will conclude with a lunch and not an afternoon session. All attendees will be eligible to earn three continuing education credits. These credits will be issued through the Go Merit system used by the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. The cost to attend the seminar is $90. Online registration and payment can be completed on the VAA website. Make sure to sign up and learn what is new for 2022!
