Earn continuing education credits through VECAT

Every two years, licensed engineers in Virginia must obtain 16 continuing education credits or professional development hours to maintain their license. These hours can be attained through various methods such as technical conferences and online courses. Effective October 1, 2019, you can earn CEC’s through the Virginia Education Center for Asphalt Technology—a partnership between Germanna Community College and Virginia Asphalt Association. Online classes ranging from 2 to 4 continuing education credits are available through the Germanna Community College website. The classes are Basics of Asphalt Paving (4 CEC’s), Asphalt Paving Inspection and Acceptance (4 CEC’s), Basics of Asphalt Production (3.5 CEC’s), Asphalt Mixture Testing and Acceptance (3 CEC’s), Basics of Slurry Surfacing (4 CEC’s) and Basics of Surface Treatment (2 CEC’s). Each course follows the requirements for working in Virginia. The cost per CEC unit is $50.
