Virginia Asphalt Association established the Richard J. Schreck Scholarship program for VAA member company dependents in 2015. The scholarship provides an opportunity for VAA to give back to students pursuing degrees and furthering their education. These scholarships are available to dependents of VAA member companies, rewarding students seeking higher education in universities, colleges, community colleges, and trade schools. R.J. Schreck Scholarships for our future leaders are only made possible by the generosity of our donors and sponsors.
$5000 Scholarships are awarded annually, with the number of scholarships dependent upon the total amount of contributions made by individuals and member companies in that year. In 2019, eleven scholarships were awarded from a highly competitive list of entries. Since the inception of the program in 2015, VAA has awarded $140,000.00 in scholarships. Awards are presented in the spring of each year, with application submittals due by April 1.
To contribute to the scholarship program, complete the Donor Form and write a check payable to NAPA Research and Education Foundation. Place “VAA Scholarship” in the memo field of the check, which will allow your contribution to be fully tax-deductible.
The Program is managed under the auspices of the NAPA Research and Education Foundation NAPAREF) Scholarship Program, a 501(c) 3 organization. All sponsorship proceeds will be used to support the Richard J Schreck/NAPAREF Scholarship. Tax deductibility is at the full donated amount. Please consult your tax advisor.
