October 13, 2021, will mark the fifth anniversary of the Discussion with the Department meeting. Started in 2017 to replace VAA’s Fall Conference, leaders in Virginia’s paving and transportation industry will meet to discuss topics from funding to scheduling to strategic directions. This year’s meeting will be held at the Richmond Marriott, adjacent to the Greater Richmond Convention Center on Broad Street.
The meeting will kick off with an evening reception and dinner on October 12. All attendees are invited. The following day, VAA members will be treated to a continental breakfast and attend a members-only meeting. Starting at 9:00 am, Virginia Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration senior leaders will join the event to present a myriad of topics, including changes to Virginia’s Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business certification program, future funding for maintenance/construction and program updates. In addition, VAA will present the 2020 Perpetual Pavement Award to VDOT for I-81 in the Salem District. All on-site participants will be provided lunch, and the meeting will conclude by 3:00 pm.
