Chemung’s Mitchells and Gainesville labs receive lab certification

Congratulations to Chemung Contracting Corp’s Mitchells and Gainesville Laboratories for receiving a VAAES Lab Review certificate in May. Each lab passed a thorough review by VAA Director Mike Dudley covering equipment and testing procedures to ensure compliance with VDOT, AASHTO, and ASTM specifications and test methods. According to Dudley, “These labs checked all of the review boxes during my visit. While Clint Roof, an asphalt veteran, leads Chemung’s labs, Cam Yi in Gainesville is still relatively new but has already attained his MCS credentials and has been properly trained internally. You can see the professionalism in both labs and the leadership by Clint.” Great job by the quality control staff at both facilities!

These Lab reviews are just one of the many value-added services VAA provides to members and non-members of the association. Part of our mission is “to promote the increased use and quality of asphalt pavements in Virginia.” This is one way we strive to do just that.

This marks the 6th Mix Design Lab and 1st Asphalt Production lab receiving a Laboratory Review Certificate to go along with Luck Stone’s aggregate lab. So far, we have had member, non-member, and aggregate producers sign up. Register online or contact Mike Dudley for more details.
