Virginia Department of Transportation has announced that Cathy C. McGhee, PE, has been appointed as VDOT’s chief deputy commissioner.
McGhee will support VDOT’s 7,700 employees as well as their public and private sector partners in the delivery of VDOT projects and services to the Commonwealth’s 8.5 million residents.
With more than 30 years of experience in traffic engineering and systems operations, intelligent transportation systems and data/performance measurement, McGhee will continue to position VDOT as a leader in transportation innovation and technology. She is a skilled collaborator, working across multiple state agencies to find solutions to transportation challenges.
McGhee received her bachelor’s degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and her master’s degree from the University of Virginia, both in civil engineering.
